Wellness Classes

Welcome to Oliver Art Center’s Winter Wellness program!  We have a great collection of offerings, including a variety of yoga courses, Qigong, and even Sound Baths!  We are hoping to add Tai Chi classes in January.  We also have a wonderful energy healer on board for those who need to push the reset button (private sessions – by appointment only).

Lauren M. McLain, E-RYT 200, YACEP, MSHR

Lauren shares her Practice as a Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 200, YACEP) in Vinyasa based methodologies, as recognized by the Yoga Alliance. She pursued her Yoga training and certification in Chicago from Registered Yoga School (RYS); CorePower Yoga. She danced for Sheffield School of the Dance Company in Alabama, and studied at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management with a focus in Fashion Merchandising from Columbia College Chicago and a Master of Science in Human Resources from Loyola University Chicago. In 2013, Lauren was invited to be a member of international business honors society, Beta Gamma Sigma.  As a dedicated Yoga practitioner and dancer, Lauren offers group and private Yoga and dance instruction. Lauren guides from a respect for learning and individuality in relationship to mindset, and leads a dynamic approach in invitation to Practice.

 

Jessica Noe:

After retiring from 30+ years in the teaching profession, Jessica Noe decided to get trained to teach qigong, so she could share her passion for this practice which supports people in their wellness journeys. She has been teaching qigong for 8 years and continues to learn and grow in the practice. Her plan is to continue to study and practice qigong for the rest of her life.

Jill Mann:

Jill is a certified sound healer. Most recently, she completed the Life Changing Energy Expert Sound Healer Certification program accredited by the Complementary Medical Association. She is grateful to share the beneficial frequencies of her crystal singing bowls and other instruments. Jill lives in Benzie County with her husband and enjoys all the wonderful outdoor adventures this area has to offer.

 

Amelia Reeber:

Amelia Reeber moved back to Michigan recently and brings with her a body of knowledge gained from 25 years of combined experience in dance, choreography, performance, improvisation, somatic inquiries, creative process, and craniosacral therapy. Her classes promote the integration of body, mind, and spirit through creativity and play.

 

 

MaryAnn Short:

MaryAnn earned her Master of Arts degree in Elementary Administration from Central Michigan University in 1992 and her Bachelors of Science in Physical Education from Aquinas College in 1986. She has 28 years combined teaching experience in the
classroom and in Physical Education. In 2007 MaryAnn received her Brain Gym Instructor license and in 2008 became a Practitioner/ Trainer of Bal-A-Vis-X. She is has been a Visiting & Adjunct Professor in the Movement Science Department at Grand Valley State University retired from teaching 6th grade classroom & PreK-5th grade Physical Education/Health for Saugatuck Public Schools.  MaryAnn has presented introductory Movement based Brain/Body integration inservices for elementary school teacher and spoken at Health, Physical Education & Math conferences. MaryAnn has also conducted Bal-A-Vis-X experiences including Adaptive & Trauma Informed modifications for public / private school teachers, councilors, occupational therapists, physical therapists, vision & speech therapists as well as parents. MaryAnn has also, been a consultant and mentor for teachers
developing movement based integration programs with in the classroom.  Presently MaryAnn is the founder of M.O.B.B.I. LLC, working with individuals/groups ages 7– 90 (to design personalized integrative movement routines to develop the brain/body system to improve balance, body awareness, memory, goal setting, eye tracking, eye/hand coordination and self confidence). MaryAnn also continues to conduct Bal-A-Vis-X trainings & works with schools to implement Integrative movement into the academic setting.

7 pm New Moon Sound Bath with Jill Mann

Prepare for the last new moon of 2023.  Together we will set intentions for new beginnings and focus our energy on manifesting all that is possible in the new season and the new year.  We will begin the session with intention setting and guided meditation designed to open our hearts and minds to new possibilities before settling in to a relaxing sound bath, followed by a closing ritual.

All participants will receive a special gift.

7PM Evening Candlelight Yoga in the Beck Gallery with Lauren McLain

Celebrate the holiday season with a candlelight practice in the Oliver Art Center gallery. Practice will include asanas that inspire the body’s ability to rest and renew.  All levels of yogi are welcome.
