Knitting with Carol Johnson - Roo Shawl Project
Description:
Students will work with basic knitting skills to create a warm and cozy shawl perfect for the chilly autumn evenings.
Class members will need 900 yards of fingering weight yarn. The pattern calls for 2 colors of equal amount. The knitter may add a third color, as the teacher has done. The yarn sleeve will have the needle size. The pattern suggests a #4 circular needle, at least 24 inches long.
Instructor Bio: Carol Gunkler Johnson was born in Berea, Kentucky, a region well known for keeping Southern Mountain arts and crafts alive. At an early age Carol was taught to sew, weave, crochet and knit. She excelled in sewing, creating garments ranging from mermaid costumes to lace wedding gowns. Her real love, however, was knitting. Carol creates a remarkable array of knit clothing items - she calls them "wearable hugs." Carol is a regular volunteer at the OAC and a Frankfort resident.
