Fine Art Scratchboard Techniques with Trevor McCauley

This is not the kids' camp project.  The workshop will help artists learn about the tools and techniques necessary to create fine art using this underrepresented art form.  In this class we will begin by trying out various scratching or "shading" techniques, and once we've gotten the feel of the pens/styluses we will dive in to create a finished product of your choosing.  All the pens, the holder, and the scratchboard are included with the class and are yours to keep.  You will also receive additional blank scratchboards to take home with you so you can keep creating projects of your own - as well as some resources to help you find more supplies as you branch out into this exciting art form!

Instructor Statement:  My artist journey really began in high school where I was introduced to ceramics and scratchboard. When I went on to the University of Michigan all my elective classes were art classes. I took a broad range of classes including drawing, oil painting, ceramics, and sculpture. I was also introduced to stream of consciousness writing as well as piano music composition during my undergraduate studies. Post college I dabbled in digital photography as well as took ceramic classes. Throughout college and beyond I have continued to write creatively and have written 5 poetry books.  Today my artistic endeavors juggle between sculpture/ceramics, painting, scratchboard, poetry, music composition and 2-D collage making.
