Residency Program

The Oliver Art Center presents the Nancy Ingersoll Foster Artist in Residence Program

Supporting artists is at the heart of our mission, and with the generous support of an endowment, we are thrilled to offer the Nancy Ingersoll Foster Artist in Residence program! Nancy Foster has long been a supporter, teacher, and exhibitor at the Oliver Art Center. An accomplished painter working in watercolors, pastels, and oils, she has depicted emotional landscapes and captured unique personal moments from across the country – from Chicago’s streets to the farms of the Midwest, California’s towering trees to aerial views of mountains and fields, Michigan’s dunes to delicate floral still lifes and more. Her dedication to arts education has extended to the development of this residency program, which offers a 2-week-long retreat to an artist working in any visual media, allowing them to focus on their work and explore all the inspiration and peacefulness that northwest Michigan offers.

Our 2026 Residency will take place in September. Applications are now open – learn more and apply online by July 27th for consideration.
