Sound Bath with Jill Mann

Friday   July 19,  7-8pm    $25 (Members $22.50)
Let go of stress with the healing vibrations of a relaxing sound bath - a meditative experience where you are "bathed" in sound waves of specific frequencies to promote deep relaxation and restoration.  Experience the soothing sounds of quartz crystal singing bowls, a crystal singing pyramid, an ocean drum, chimes, and a gong as they resonate with your body's energetic centers allowing your ow healing powers to activate.

What is a Sound Bath?
A sound bath is a meditative experience where you are “bathed” in sound waves of specific frequencies to
promote deep relaxation and restoration. You will experience the soothing sounds of quartz crystal
singing bowls, a crystal singing pyramid, an ocean drum, chimes, and a gong as they resonate with your
body’s energetic centers allowing your own healing powers to activate.

Is a Sound Bath safe?
For most people, yes. It is important to check with your health care professional if you are being treated
for a mental illness or chronic health condition, are pregnant, or if you have any type of implant or metal in
your body. People with implanted electrical devices such as pacemakers or insulin pumps are not advised
to participate in sound healing.

What to expect/ what to bring.
You will be lying or sitting in a comfortable position for approximately an hour. Feel free to change
positions if necessary during the session. Bring anything you will need to bring your body into a relaxed
position (yoga mat, cushion, pillow(s), blanket). Loose fitting, layered clothing is best.
During the session, many reactions may occur. You may fall asleep, cry, laugh, or experience a floating
sensation. Emotional release may happen. It is important to give yourself permission to be open to the
experience and all its possibilities.

After the session, you may feel calm and sleepy or energized. Depending on your individual concerns and
possible transformation, varied reactions may occur.. It is important to drink plenty of water and give
yourself permission to accept your personal reaction as what is needed for your body to heal itself. If you
have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Oliver Art Center and they will put you in contact with me.

Instructor info:  Jill Mann is a certified sound healer. Most recently, she completed the Life Changing Energy
Expert Sound Healer Certification program accredited by the Complementary Medical
Association. She is grateful to share the beneficial frequencies of her crystal singing bowls and
other instruments. Jill lives in Benzie County with her husband and enjoys all the wonderful
outdoor adventures this area has to offer.

Family Puppetry Workshop with Alexandra Herryman

This is fun for all ages - children can sign up as well as parents (children under 14 must be accompanied by parents).

We will explore techniques that make a puppet appear alive and how movements express feelings and tell stories. By the end everyone will have constructed some
elements that can be used to tell a story out of our primary medium: cardboard and tape. But more importantly, participants will have a good grasp of how to think about puppets as objects that tell stories, and ways to turn those objects and stories into performances that make people smile. Ages 14 and up may register alone. Ages 10-14 may assist an adult who is also participating. More classes added this summer - watch the website for updates!

Instructor Info:  Alexandra Herryman has a long history of design, construction, and management for live theater, which she honed in New York and Chicago before settling down in northern Michigan. In 2009 she ran away from grad school to join the puppeteers in Boston, becoming the stage manager for a monthly puppet slam. This introduced her to the multitude of puppet styles and techniques that exist, an interest she further studied at regional and national puppet festivals. Many of her puppets are still out in the world performing in theatrical productions.

Sound Bath with Jill Mann

Saturday  August 10,  7-8pm    $25 (Members $22.50)
